It seemed fitting that my first drink with Dented Brick Distillery’s Antelope Island Rum would be the classic Daiquiri. I wanted to put my own twist on it with the seasonal flavor of fresh fig and a hint of anise.

Ingredients

  • 2 ozDented Brick Antelope Island Rum
  • 0.75 ozFresh Lime Juice
  • 0.75 ozFig Anise Syrup

Instructions

  • Garnish

  • Slice of Fig, Lime Wheel or Both

  • Build

  • Shake & Double Strain

  • Glass

  • Coupe

To make the syrup, heat a 1:1 ratio of water and Demerara sugar until it just starts to boil, then remove from the heat. Add two star anise and 3 halved figs. Cover and wait an hour, then remove the anise and allow to sit, covered for an additional hour. Strain the syrup into your vessel of choice and store in the fridge until you’re ready to build your cocktail.
