"Jack Wright | Crafted Pour"

"The Jack Rose was a popular cocktail in the early 1900’s when the Wright Brothers were about to make their first flight. Absinthe was also very popular, and apparently the Wright Brothers were VERY fond of lemons, so this riff plays into all of those details. I have a confession: I have been using Pernod Pastis and calling it Absinthe this whole time. I know, what a fraud, and I understand if you can no longer trust me. But if you still have faith, just know I bought the cheapest bottle of Absinthe Total Wine had to offer so this mistake is rectified! Anyways, this drink is awesome, with Laird’s forming the base and Absinthe extremely present. Mephisto has mixed reviews, but a heavy cinnamon note works perfectly here with the Applejack, though this is a VERY strong drink! Real Grenadine from Liber and Co brings us this beautiful color and a wondeful texture, and though I hate weird measurements this needed a bit more sweetness than my orginal 1/2 oz. The photograph was taken at Jockey’s Ridge, very nearby the Wright Brother’s Memorial. The Wright Brothers were recommended this stretch of the Outer Banks to do their test flights for the steady breezes, soft sandy landing areas, and its relative remoteness so they wouldn’t be bothered by the press. This was a really fun one to make, shoot, and drink, and I loved being able to craft this with some historical context.", "undefined", "Jack Wright",
