"Caipirinha | Crafted Pour"

"I picked up my very first bottle of Cachaça last week and in a fit of propriety thats not really my style, I decided to start out with the most popular and recognizable cocktail utilizing it: the Caipirinha (ive been struggling to spell and pronounce this for days). For those who don’t know, Cachaça is Brazil’s national spirit and is NOT rum, though the internet might lead you to believe that; it is made with fermented sugarcane, and most closely resembles Rhum Agricole, but is still solidly in its own category of spirit. Leblon is one of the widely availible brands in the US, but like Mezcal, cachaça is slowly gaining more widespread use in the world outside of Brazil. Leblon definitely has a strong grassy note with a fruitiness underneath, and the Caipirinha allows these flavors to shine with lime and sweetness added in a slightly unorthodox way. I blended my granulated sugar to get it to a super fine consistency and went to town muddling in my new rocks glass. Upon further reading after the fact I learned that one may shake this, and I think it would’ve benefited from that, and also could’ve used more sugar. Specs vary slightly from the bottle to the website to other websites to books. Overall the Leblon has a super interesting flavor, reminiscent of a vegetal tequila almost, and may take some getting used to for me but I’m here for it! And maybe not my best option for my first cooler-made clear ice but she’s in there!", "undefined", "Caipirinha",
