Liquor selection in Newfoundland is limited, to put it politely, but I had an opportunity for a friend to bring me a bottle of aged cachaça from out of province.
I was so excited to make the Batida in Smuggler's Cove; I had my coconut cream and my passionfruit syrup ready, but then I realized it calls for cachaça—manageable…and coconut milk…and passionfruit purée. So I actually had none of the ingredients.
Instead, I made this—and it is a delight. “Batida” means shake in Portuguese, while “mistura” means blend, hence the every so slightly adjusted naming.
Ingredients:
- Aged Cachaça
- Coconut Cream
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a drink mixer tin with 8 ounces of crushed ice. Blend for 15-20 seconds. Open pour into an old fashioned glass or other appropriate vessel, and garnish.
