"Typically (and tragically), the only vermouth I can get in Newfoundland is Martini. So when a pal hooked me up with a little bottle of BC vermouth, I wanted to get a little coast-to-coast Canadian action on the go.
So I grabbed my vermouth from the West, brandy, bitters from here in the East, and rounded it out with Upper Canadian rye and a couple more dashes of bitters.
Named because (according to my rough sleuthing it on Google Maps) Havelock, QC is the first Canadian town due north of Saratoga.
Starting out sweet and rich with a sharp herbal kicker, this all-Canadian Saratoga riff is perfect for before or after dinner.
Recommended brands:
•Plum brandy—Markland Cottage Winery
•Whisky—J.P. Wiser's Triple Barrel Rye
•Vermouth—Esquimalt Wine
•Bitters—Dillon's Small Batch Distillers, Newfoundland Distillery Co.",
