Now, I like amarreto sours, but I can never drink more than one- it’s too sweet and syrupy. But Morganthaler adds bourbon to help cut that. I had to try it!
I figured my lovely 100 proof rye could do the same thing as the bourbon, further balancing the sweet with that spicy earthiness. I also used 1:1 simple syrup instead of 2:1 because again, the sweetness.
Now this is the best amerreto sour l’ve ever had. Try it and let me know!

Ingredients:
- Amarreto
- 100 Proof Rye
Instructions:
1.5 oz amarreto
.75 oz 100 proof rye
1 oz fresh lemon
Egg white
1 bar spoon/teaspoon 1:1 simple syrup
Put all ingredients in a shaker and dry shake hard for about a minute. Add a few agitator ice cubes and shake hard until cold and frothy. Double strain into a chilled coupe and top with three drops aromatic bitters. Finally, lay across your @maraska_zadar maraschino.
