"#whatifwednesday TLDR: would you do shots on a date? 🍵 Are you ever too old to do shots with your friends? I hope not. I love doing shots with a big group at weddings, birthdays, and other celebratory events: making eye contact, cheering for someone or a group accomplishment, and then feeling the burn together. At times I’ve done too many and it’s gone poorly for me - like those mysterious “Cinnamon Toast Crunch” shots some friends and I ended up doing in a Philly dive bar at 3am - but still my feelings on shots are net positive. 🍵 I’m pretty sure I’ve never done shots on a date, but I wouldn’t necessarily say no. I did enjoy a mezcal flight on a date a few months ago, but was classy about it and sipped each glass slowly to taste the different flavors of the aging process. And speaking of classy, here’s an elevated riff on the Green Tea shot: 🍵 “Tea for Two” 1 oz bourbon - I used the very smooth @shadowridgedistillery 1 oz apricot liqueur - I used @luxardousa 1 oz iced green tea with honey and lemon - I used Kashmiri Kahwa Spice green tea by @vahdamindia Shake ingredients with ice for 15 seconds. Strain into shot glasses - or cordial glasses if you’re feeling extra fancy - and garnish with tiny lemon peels and blue shimmer dust if you have it. Ingredients: - Shadow Ridge Bourbon Whiskey - Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot Instructions: Brew a cup of green tea and add juice from a quarter of a lemon and a teaspoon of honey; allow it to cool. Once it’s at room temperature, add it to a shaker with the other two ingredients, plentiful ice, and shake for about 15 seconds. Strain into two cordial stems or shot glasses.
