"Sage Pimm & The Bristlecone Gin | Crafted Pour"

"Ad/ This is my first foray with Dented Brick’s Bristlecone Gin, lovingly crafted from the tips of Great Basin Bristlecone Pines , known to live for up to 4900 years! Along with angelica root, lemon peel and juniper this gin seeks to perfectly capture the natural flavors of the Utah wilderness. At least, that’s what the bottle told me before I opened it, which sounds amazing, but is it as good as it sounds? Dented Brick does a LOT right with this gin, the balance of aroma and flavor is incredible, pine and juniper forward but with enough subtle citrus and earthiness underneath to stand out. I don’t sip gin neat often but I will be with this one. Hey, I’m not getting paid nearly enough to lie so you can believe me: if you want a gin a little off the beaten path without straying into “modern” territory, this one’s for you. I wanted to emphasize the backbone of the gin for this cocktail. Together with fruity Pimm’s #1, a hemp tea syrup and the herbacious sage, this gin stood out with pine and juniper brilliantly while the other flavors progressed seamlessly through the palate, hitting notes almost rhythmically, starting and ending with the pine flavor I was hoping for in this drink. Gin and tea is the slightly less popular G&T to me but just as natural of a pair, and the hemp flavors from Barefoot are potent and delicious. Sage may be nearly as well known for burning but fresh it peeks out in the middle with the subtle aromatics wafting out from the glass. Cheers to a new star of my bar cart!
