"#whatifwednesday TLDR: sometimes people still meet dates the old fashioned way 🤝 Apparently the term “meet cute” has been around since the late 30’s as a staple in Hollywood screenwriting.* Characters in a romantic drama or comedy can’t just meet at a cocktail party; they need to have something adorable or kooky happen to throw them together. Maybe all chance connections outside of an app automatically feel cute now because meeting a potential date in real life is so rare. 🤝 When I interviewed people about their dating experience, everyone said they still sometimes meet potential partners without the help of technology - mostly through acquaintances. One friend said that he is open to meeting new people in real life, “but it’s not like I’m getting dressed and going to the bar on Saturday nights to meet women.” 🤝 I had a little Meet Cute last week that inspired me to name this drink. At least, I thought it was cute - but it did involve me wearing an emergency rain poncho 😂 But I do have an unquestionably cute story I’ll be telling when I make the video for this beauty: “Meet Cute” 2 oz Prickly pear-infused vodka - @twoeaglesdistilling 0.5-1 oz fresh lime juice 2-4 oz Ginger beer - I used Light Ginger Beer by @regattacraftmixers This is a vodka mule, and super easy to mix up - just build it in a glass over crushed or pebble ice. 🤝 Swipe for Archimedes pouting because he felt upstaged by the drink.
