"When I saw the #cursedcocktails contest rules, I knew I had to make a cocktail in honor of “The Shining.” I f@#*ing love The Shining - both the book and the movie, though I have admittedly consumed the latter many more times. Including seeing it on the big screen a few years ago, which I *highly* recommend. Swipe for Archie’s reaction to the plot. 🩸 For a Shining-themed cocktail, I obviously had to make some REDRUM. I took this in the direction of a Negroni riff using white rum as the base, a rosé vermouth for hue and depth of flavor, and some sour cherry liqueur for extra color (and to balance out the Campari bitterness). 🩸 The two glasses represent The Grady sisters. They wear blue dresses in the movie, but also give a glimpse of their hatcheted, bloody corpses in the hotel hallway while they’re asking Danny to play with them 🪓 In the book, the girls are not twins, but are 8 and 10 when they die, so I felt justified in using glasses of two different sizes and pattern. 🩸 I wish I had more props besides a spider plant to give the feel of the movie (a tennis ball, a mini tricycle, an ax…), but these drinks were delicious nonetheless. I know Stephen King didn’t approve of Kubrick’s movie adaptation, but hopefully he would approve of these cocktails. ", "undefined", "Come and Play with Us ",
