When a brand sends you a bottle of rye, your first drink must be a Manhattan, right? For this one I wanted something dark and slightly spooky as the temps get cooler, nearing October. This riff on the Manhattan has spice from the rye, more spice, chocolate notes, pepper and stone fruits from the bitters, complexity, and sweetness from the vermouth and creme de cacao with a lingering chocolate finish.

I found myself missing my favorite cocktails from local bars during the pandemic and started recreating them at home. That led to a hobby and passion for creating my own cocktails. I love sharing my drinks with friends and family, but why stop there? So I've begun posting photos and accompanying recipes on Instagram. Now I'm here sharing the specs for those drinks on Crafted Pour. Cheers!...

Spicy Maple Margarita
Stir all ingredients (aside from the cherry) with ice until chilled and diluted to your preference. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with the maraschino cherry. Cheers!
Editor's Note
Rye meets dark chocolate in this moody Manhattan riff. The dual-bitter profile adds a complex, peppery finish that defines the drink.
