The signature drink of the Kentucky Derby and possibly the whole of the South. This is a bourbon-based cocktail that prominently features a cooling and fragrant use of fresh mint and crushed or shaved ice. Even the description sounds refreshing! The julep is actually a whole category of cocktails served over crushed ice. We might even be willing to debate whether a Mai Tai is technically a julep. As long as we make a few to sample...
