In honor of the start of the MLB Postseason, I made a drink for the local team: San Diego Padres. Inspired by all things SD, this brown and gold drink uses a local rum and beer. I made a syrup using Ballast Point Pale Ale but I think a West Coast IPA would be fun to use as well. Then to mimic a frothy beer pour, I topped the drink with some sea salt air to pay homage to my favorite neighbor: the ocean. I think this one’s quite the hit… ⚾️ PETCO POUR 🍺

View MoreAdd all ingredients to shaker except ginger beer. Shake. Strain into chilled glass with ice. Top with ginger beer (about 2 oz). Garnish with lemon slice and sea salt air. Beer Syrup: Simmer 1:1 ratio of beer:brown sugar Sea Salt Air: 3/4 cup water, 1 tsp sea salt, 1/2 tsp soy lecithin powder. Froth. Scoop air off top.
Editor's Note
This San Diego-inspired highball pairs barrel-finished rum with a house-made beer syrup. Sea salt air foam adds a saline, textural finish that mimics a fresh beer pour.
