Did it always get this hot in summer? I don’t remember it being this hot back in the 70s and 80s. I mean, it got a bit steamy with humidity, and there were rare days of maybe 88 or 90 degrees, but not weeks on end of oppressive temperatures that can melt pavement. Am I really that old that I’m doing the “Remember when…” and “Back in my day…” kinda talk? Ugh. This heat is frying my brain. I need a drink. Cheers!

View MoreAdd ingredients minus tonic to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake 20 seconds or more to really chill, but not dilute too much. Fine strain into a chilled tall glass over a clear ice spear. Top with tonic water and garnish with a lime wedge.
Editor's Note
Rye whiskey meets floral hibiscus and earthy hops in this crisp, highball-style refresher. A perfect antidote to oppressive summer heat.
