Sometimes you chase an idea. Sometimes it runs you over. I wanted an herbal backbone to cut through plum wine’s rich sweetness. Xtabay bitters stepped up. Primitiva bitters and bourbon backed it up. Sweet vermouth played cleanup. End result? A smooth, layered sip I’m calling the Shadow Orchard. File under: drinks worth losing track of time for. Thank you to BG Reynolds and Shadow Ridge Distillery for the bitters and bourbon.

Editor's Note
Plum wine and dual bitters transform this bourbon base into a layered, fruit-forward sipper. A sophisticated, slow-paced drink for the end of the evening.
