Watermelon Boulevardier

Concentrated watermelon syrup is a whole other level of potent. In this Summer Boulevardier riff, for example, only a quarter ounce brings enough watermelon flavor to be present. It works super well with the Campari, while a yummy bourbon helps accent the juicy sweetness while being able to stand up to the other flavors. If you’re new around here, you may have missed my prior obsessions with cryoconcentration. It’s the process of concentrating a juice through freezing. So take a bunch of water...

I love trying new ingredients, learning new techniques, and of course, creating new cocktails-- especially ones influenced by food in some way. I also love the photography/videography side of things. I’m incredibly passionate about my craft but try not to take myself too seriously. Cheers!...

Editor's Note
Cryoconcentrated watermelon syrup adds intense fruit depth to this Boulevardier riff. The result is a balanced, summer-ready sipper that retains the classic's bitter backbone.

Watermelon syrup is awesome and well worth it! We aren’t huge fans of the base cocktail but wanted to give it a go, knowing that we don’t enjoy Campari. Once the cocktail is watered down with ice a bit it’s a much smoother drink.

This is such a creative use of cryoconcentration! The depth of flavor you've achieved with the watermelon syrup sounds incredible. Do you have a favorite brand of bourbon you find works best to stand up to the Campari in this specific riff?
