Tequila Old Fashioned

Submitted on: February 8, 2024
In this episode of ‘Does it Old Fashioned’ we break down the basic template for an Old Fashioned and make it with different ingredients. Today’s base spirit is tequila. To keep that tropical feel, the sweetener is homemade Hibiscus Syrup, and for bitters to stay with that tartness, I used rhubarb. This turned out to be wonderful, slightly tart, and sweet.

In a mixing glass, add all ingredients and stir with ice. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass and garnish. Enjoy!
Editor's Note
Blanco tequila meets floral hibiscus and tart rhubarb in this dry, spirit-forward riff. A bright, agave-centric take on the classic template.

This sounds so delicious. What's your specs on that hibiscus syrup so I can recreate?
