The initial concept for this came about when a customer walked into 320 Main and asked if I was "the rum guy." The customer issued a challenge to come up with a drink that used rum and Scotch on the spot.

Progenitor of RumDood.com back when blogging was cool - or at least a thing some people did. Bartender at 320 Main in Seal Beach, California off and on from 2011 to 2019 and now just a dude who used to do those things with abnormally strong opinions about drinks and rum. ...
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with ice. Strain into a coupe and garnish with an orange twist.
Editor's Note
A bold marriage of rum and Scotch, anchored by the herbal depth of Ciociaro and the spice of falernum. The Laphroaig provides a smoky finish that lingers on the palate.

This drink was my gateway to the world of craft cocktails! I have never been as pleasantly surprised and confounded by any drink like this one

Wow. I'm a fan of Laphroaig but was always scared it's extreme peatieness would overpower cocktails. Love this combination!

This is my favorite cocktail. I never used to have one. I was more of a single malt scotch kinda guy. But this cocktail changed everything. A friend of mine suggested it at Club 33 and said it was one of his favorites and that I'd like it. Well shoot, I'm now a cocktail aficionado!
