Bitter Godfather

Submitted on: May 2, 2022
This drink is named for the 1972 Marlon Brando movie, “The Godfather.” The original recipe calls for just two ingredients: equal parts blended whiskey and amaretto. That version was too sweet for me, so I went for a drier version by scaling back the amaretto and I added orange bitters. It’s a cocktail that you can’t refuse.
Ingredients
- 60 mlBlended Scotch
- 15 mlAmaretto
- 3 dash(es)Orange Bitters

Old Fashioned/Rocks
Add ingredients to a mixing glass with ice, stir, and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a citrus twist. If you substitute the scotch with bourbon, the variation is called The Boss.
Editor's Note
A drier, more aromatic take on the classic Godfather. Orange bitters cut through the amaretto's sweetness, balancing the Scotch's malt profile.
