Christmas Thyme

Here's a simple but delicious sour that's perfect for the holiday season. I used a local Aquavit that's really punchy and the thyme infusion adds an extra herbal element. Some sweet and tart cranberry syrup helps tame the Aquavit with some nice fruity notes. It also gives you a tasty snack to enjoy with the cocktail!

A home enthusiast with a passion for all things tiki! Rum is my favourite poison, but I also love Whiskey, Brandy and just about every other spirit. I'm fairly new to cocktail making but I quickly fell in love with it and enjoy the pursuit of finding my new favourite libation. Cheers! ...

Cranberry Syrup - 4 Cups Fresh Cranberries - 2 Cups of Sugar - 1 Cup of Water Add the cranberries to a large pot and mash them. Add the water and sugar and bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain, bottle and refrigerate. Keep the leftover cranberries to use for a snack with some cheese and crackers.
Editor's Note
Aquavit's savory caraway notes are balanced by tart cranberry and fresh lime. A thyme infusion bridges the gap, creating a complex, herbal sour perfect for the holidays.
