Mezcal Tobacco Fashioned
Submitted on: May 29, 2023
This complex riff on an Old Fashioned uses Cointreau as the sweetener and mezcal as the base spirit. The burn expression of orange peel adds a layer of complexity to the Cointreau and rounds out the boldness of the mezcal. It also pairs so well with the coffee. The added tobacco kick with the notes of various other spices like nutmeg adds that extra punch of bold flavors as you take the first sip.

Editor's Note
Smoky mezcal and rich coffee liqueur form the base of this dark Old Fashioned riff. Cointreau and a flamed orange peel add bright citrus, with tobacco bitters providing a complex, leathery finish.
