I wanted to make a cocktail that would bring out the red wine barrel aged bourbon. The Cola Syrup pairs perfectly with the notes of red wine in this Prospect Reserve.

Lion’s Tail

Cola Syrup- In a pot, add Coca-Cola and heat on medium heat until simmering; simmer until about a cup is remaining. Add 1 tbsp of sugar and continue to stir until about 3/4 cup is remaining. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp of lemon juice. Allow to cool and refrigerate. Cocktail- In a mixing glass add Bourbon, Cola Syrup and Bitters. Stir with ice until chilled. Strain over a fresh large cube of ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel and enjoy.
