I had just come up with a recipe for a shelf stable easy to make falernum and needed another cocktail to showcase it. So, I looked for cocktails with over a quarter ounce and I stumbled across the Iron Ranger. I have loved everything else that Eric Castro has made so it seemed like a good fit.

Editor's Note
Bourbon meets tropical spice in this refreshing, crushed-ice sour. The falernum adds a clove-forward depth that bridges the gap between the pineapple and the oaky spirit.

This sounds like a fantastic, refreshing riff on a classic sour! Do you happen to have the recipe for that shelf-stable falernum you mentioned? I'd love to try making it at home.
