This is the first cocktail I came up with and liked enough to actually write down the specs and make again and again. The concept of the drink is simple, and one that I keep coming back to: a bright, refreshing, absinthe-forward cocktail. The Creme de Violette meshed nicely with the absinthe, and the bitters are there to help round out the middle notes. Gin seems like a natural fit here but after trying a whole bunch in varying ratios with the vodka they only ever served to muddy things and not...

Editor's Note
Vodka provides a clean canvas for this floral-forward sour. Absinthe and violette take center stage, anchored by the spice of Jamaican bitters.

This sounds like a beautiful, delicate balance of flavors! I love the choice to use vodka to let the absinthe and violette shine through.

This sounds so floral and delicious. What is your spec on simple syrup, so I make sure not to oversweeten?
