Happy National Mezcal Day! And Old Fashioned Week! And the Make Yourself A Little Nuts Trying to Participate Timeline! No but what better way to celebrate both of these joyous occasions than to combine my favorite mezcal with my favorite Fernet (ive tried two different kinds now thank you very much). Admittedly this came about more from the ring of the name than anything, but after subbing out a much less impressive mezcal for the decidedly more impressive Rey Campero, this drink really works. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz Rey Campero
- 1/2 oz Fernet Branca
- 1/4 oz Licor 43
- 1/2 oz Anise Syrup
- 3 drop(s) Bittermen's Xocolatl Mole Bitters
- 1 ea Anise Smoked Glass

Grapefruit Twist
Stir & Strain
Old Fashioned/Rocks
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with a large ice cube and stir until chilled, about 45 seconds. Strain into an anise smoked rocks glass over a clear ice sphere. Express a grapefruit peel over the drink and perch on the side of the glass
