Growing up in New England, my first exposure to tiki is through Chinese American restaurants. When you order a mai tai, it comes out and it's red! It also tastes like nothing but fruit juice and grenadine. Next you order a zombie and it looks surprisingly like the first drink you had. And shocking it tastes just about the same as well. So I wanted to create a cocktail that would invoke these same feelings, but would actually be good!

View MoreCombine all ingredients, except the Peychaud's Bitters, into a shaking tin with crushed ice. Shake for 5-8 seconds. Open pour into glassware. Top with more crushed ice. Float 8-10 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters. Garnish and enjoy!!
Editor's Note
Dual rum base meets bright grenadine and spicy falernum, while a Peychaud’s bitter float adds aromatic lift.

This is such a fun and nostalgic concept! It's great to see a classic trope elevated with such high-quality ingredients. Do you have a favorite brand of Jamaican rum you recommend for this build?
