Devouring Time, blunt thou the lion’s paws, And make the earth devour her own sweet brood; Pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger’s jaws, And burn the long-lived phoenix in her blood -William Shakespeare, Sonnet 19 A new school year has started, summer is coming to a close, the plants are dying out, and my baby girl is now in my seventh-grade class. I am feeling the passage of time most profoundly right now. Thank you to Shadow Ridge Distilled Spirits for the dark and moody rum.

View MoreAdd rum, cherry liqueur, egg white, syrup, and saline to a shaker. Squeeze your lemon wedge and drop it in. Add four ice cubes and shake until the ice is just about gone. Strain into a chilled glass with a large ice. Top with dried lavender buds. If you have any fresh buds left, add a few of those, too. I had one stem left with fresh flowers on my plants.
Editor's Note
Dark rum and cherry liqueur create a deep, fruity base for this sour. Aromatic lavender syrup and a rich egg white foam add floral and textural layers.

This sounds tasty. Is the cherry liquor on the tart side ? What other liquor would you recommend if I can't get my hands on that one ?
