Submitted on: March 20, 2021
This cocktail features our fresh-squeezed blood orange juice imported from Sicily. Our juice is grown at the base of Mt. Etna, an active volcano. The volcano releases nutrients into the soil which gives our oranges a rich taste and health benefits.

The Eastern coast of Sicily is optimal in growing citruses. Namely for it's microclimate and fertil soil at the slope of Etna volcano, which lends itself to some of the best blood oranges out there. Moisten the rim of your glass with a lime wedge. Turn the glass over and dip into a small plate with coarse salt. Combine blood orange juice, tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a prepared rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Squeeze a lime or blood orange juice over the top and add wedges to drink. Enjoy right away.
Editor's Note
Blood orange juice from Mt. Etna provides a vibrant, volcanic-soil depth. Shake this instead of stirring to properly emulsify the citrus and spirit.
