FERN DOWN FOR WHAT

Submitted on: May 3, 2022
I LIKE MY MUSIC REAL LOUD JUST LIKE SOME OF MY COCKTAILS. THIS OLD FASHIONED RIFF USING A FULL OUNCE AND A HALF OF FERNET BRANCA IS AS LOUD AS YOU COULD POSSIBLY WANT BUT MY GOD IS IT STILL DELICIOUS. I USED BANANA LIQUEUR, LICOR 43 AND CHARTREUSE TO OPEN UP SOME FRUITY VANILLA AND HERBAL LAYERS TO SOFTEN THE BLOW BUT THEYRE UNDERNEATH THE MAIN BASS OF THIS BITTER BEAUTY. CHEERS!!!!

Editor's Note
Fernet-Branca takes center stage in this aggressive, high-octane Old Fashioned riff. Banana liqueur and Green Chartreuse provide a complex, herbal-sweet counterpoint to the bitter base.

Man, I would LOVE this drink if I could bring myself to like Fernet Branca. It's just too mint forward for me. I made a second batch substituting Ramazzoti for the Fernet, and it's not bad. Ended up a bit sweet, so I'd add a base liquor, or maybe omit the syrup. Nice blend of ingredients though!
