Galley Grog
Submitted on: April 18, 2022
When I started thinking about this drink, it was going to be a reconstructed Captain's Grog—as in, grapefruit bitters instead of juice, vanilla liqueur instead of extract, etc. That’s still a great idea for an up drink that I’m working on, but this became something else. Bright yet rich, with a bit of funk and spice on the back end. Regardless of where it started, I’m delighted with where it ended up. Cheers! Editor's Note
A split base of aged and pot-still rum builds a funky, complex foundation. Galliano and maple liqueur add layers of vanilla and caramel, balanced by pineapple and spice.
