Grey Whale Sling

Submitted on: June 20, 2022
This Irving glass-inspired drink is a riff on one of, if not the most untiki of the tiki classics. Making use of fantastic ingredients from Atlantic Canada, in addition to the typical tart herbaciousness, this seafaring spin on the staple is sure to please. Recommended brands: •The Newfoundland Distillery Co. seaweed gin & cloudberry bitters •Barrelling Tide cherry liqueur •Ironworks Distillery haskap liqueur

View MoreCombine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake well. Open pour into a (1989 Irving Oil “Grey Whale” commemorative) highball glass filled 3/4 of the way with cracked ice. Top with soda and stir gently. Garnish with a lemon wedge speared all the way through with an inside-out blue cocktail umbrella (like a blowhole lol). Serve with a straw.
Editor's Note
Seaweed gin and haskap liqueur bring Atlantic Canadian terroir to this refreshing, highball-style riff. A playful, thematic garnish completes the seafaring experience.
