In anticipation of getting the San Miguel gin expression from Old Harbor— with notes of cilantro, lime, and cucumber— I immediately thought of salsa. To bring in some key salsa flavors, I made a shrub with tomato, red bell pepper, hatch chili, and cilantro. The final product is fresh, vegetal, and fits perfectly with the gin to create a slightly savory and super flavorful cocktail!

I love trying new ingredients, learning new techniques, and of course, creating new cocktails-- especially ones influenced by food in some way. I also love the photography/videography side of things. I’m incredibly passionate about my craft but try not to take myself too seriously. Cheers!...

Editor's Note
A savory sour built for a Southwestern gin. A house-made salsa shrub—tomato, pepper, chili, cilantro—bridges the gap between gin and tequila for a cocktail that drinks like fresh pico de gallo.
