This cocktail is fragrant as well as being exactly as advertised: sweet, fruity, & sharp. You lose the sting of the alcohol (the thing I hate the most about some stronger spirits), and yet you get the full aroma of the base spirit as well as all the flavors introduced by the other ingredients. The vivid deep red of the drink, combined with the low-lit ambience of this Victorian speak-easy, really suited its title and made for a well-balanced cocktail.
