After making a sumac-infused honey syrup, it seemed necessary to try the syrup in a riff on the Gold Rush, essentially a whiskey sour with honey syrup. I added a touch of Peychaud’s bitters and used a red wine barrel-aged whiskey to augment to sumac flavors and it is both gorgeously red and delicious!

I love trying new ingredients, learning new techniques, and of course, creating new cocktails-- especially ones influenced by food in some way. I also love the photography/videography side of things. I’m incredibly passionate about my craft but try not to take myself too seriously. Cheers!...

For the drink: combine all ingredients, shake with ice until chilled, fine strain into glass with large ice cube. Garnish with fresh rosemary.
Editor's Note
Sumac-infused honey and red wine barrel-aged whiskey transform this Gold Rush riff into a tart, tannic, and visually striking sour.
